Threads in Rhythm
Overview
Threads in Rhythm is a short observational documentary shot in the weavers’ cluster of Mangalagiri, Andhra Pradesh. Using traditional pit looms, the artisans work with a quiet precision that turns every movement into a pattern of its own.
Made as part of a documentary course, the film explores the relationship between sound and craft capturing weaving hands in a rhythmic, almost musical flow. The piece was shot to match a pre-given soundtrack, allowing the loom’s pace, the shuttle’s beat, and the weavers’ gestures to align with the tempo and form a visual rhythm of labour and tradition.
